The 62nd Grammy Awards on Sunday took place amid chaos and tragedy. They started with Deborah Dugan getting removed ten days before the event. They also took place shortly after the death of Kobe Bryant as a result of a helicopter crash. Alicia Keys, who was the host, tried her best to respond to what she called “a hell of a week.” She gave a speech that did Kobe’s memory respect. Lizzo even performed a tribute song for Kobe Bryant.

All in all, the night belonged to pop artist Billie Eilish as she received several awards. She is the youngest artist to get the award for album of the year. She also became the first to receive all four major awards (song, album, and record of the year and best new artist) since 1981 when Christopher Cross did it. Lil Nas X and Lizzo were among other artists who were not left behind and scooped awards for themselves.

Nipsey Hussle’s family accepted awards on his behalf giving a touching speech on such an emotional evening.
