Bret James Drops Dreamy New Single: “Fresh”

Bret James Premieres Single, Fresh, with NoGossipLA

R&B singer Bret James is launching his career as an independent artist with his premiere Single, Fresh and you should probably give it a listen. Spacious, minimalist beats accented by punchy brass and Bret’s laid-back, crooning vocals make Fresh an early contender for any Summer playlist.

The L.A. native is no stranger to the stage, starting his professional career at 5 years old as an entertainer. Now, the R&B singer has teamed up with “The 13th Grade,” an artist collective home to stars like NGHTMRE, J-Louis, Slander, and Zacari among others.

Fresh is escapism at its finest. But it’s also about coming home.

Bret’s team told NoGossipLA,Fresh brings a dreamy atmospheric production and a funk-filled baseline smoothly paired with whimsical vocals. The track shows off Bret’s creative talents in producing, singing, and songwriting. James is dedicated to making music with meaning, guiding listeners on the path to a fully immersive, multidimensional experience that they can relate to. No matter what your cultural sophistication is, the Los Angeles-born artist makes the connection on his new single.”

According to James:

“The song is about a couple who only have one day in town together so they do everything they can to make it count.”

Fresh depicts that dry summer haze of L.A.; that restless yearning that brought us here searching for something, or that kept us from ever leaving. The song ends with Bret’s voice weaving in and out with a silky, smooth sax and we’re left wanting more. Not to worry, more is soon to come. The singer will be releasing the remainder of his EP this year. You can buy or stream Fresh and keep track of that release by following Bret James at @itsbretjames.

“This track is the start of my new journey in life and music. My hope is that people can relate and connect”. – Bret James
