We have been watching closely the career of Canadian R&B songwriter and crooner, Daniel Caesar. Caesar’s poignant song lyrics always set the perfect environment for his warm melodic voice. And it is exactly this feel-good mixture of delicate words and airy vocals which makes his duet with Columbian born artist Kali Uchis, “Get You” a surefire hit.
The world seems to agree with this bold assertion, as “Get You” is, officially, Daniel Caesar’s first song to make it to the Billboard “Hot 100” charts. The sultry tune, “Get You“, is a very special one as it also marks the first Billboard “Hot 100” chart appearance for Kali Uchis, as well.
This is not the first we have heard of “Get You“; the song was nominated for a Grammy (Best R&B Performance) and had previously topped the Adult R&B charts. This is definitely becoming a catalyst tune for Caesar, and it seems to continue growing on the hearts—and ears—of listeners everywhere. Currently, “Get You” ranks ar Number 2 on the “Adult R&B” charts and Number 8 on the “Hot R&B Songs” chart; both of these particular charts blend data gathered from streaming, radio, and sales.
This track is still growing amply; this week, “Get You” gained over 19 Million radio audience impressions.
Caesar’s debut album project, “Freudian“—from which “Get You” derived—peaked at Number 16. Caesar’s “Best Part”, featuring enigmatic, female R&B artist, “H.E.R.”, reached Number 15 on the “Hot R&B Song” charts (Feb. 10th), and is currently at Number 18.
Caesar seems to be solidifying his status as an integral part of the “New R&B” collective. And, after
“Freudian“, we know exactly why.
