Album Review: Untrapped – Yo Gotti

When Old heads talk you listen. That’s why when somebody of Yo Gotti caliber speaks everybody should tune in no matter the age group. Yo Gotti has been in the music game for a while now but these past couple years he has taken his game up to another level. Now he is a CEO of his own record label CMG, having a partnership between Jay-Z Roc Nation and his own label, to signing rap stars Blac Youngsta and Moneybagg Yo.

Yo Gotti returns after a 3-year hiatus from releasing an ablum to now blessing us with a gem-packed album Untrapped. This project if 15 tracks with features coming from A boogie, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Moneybagg Yo, Rick Ross, and Lil Uzi. Yo Gotti is an old head but he is still in tune with the sound of today as you listen, you can radio hits like “Like That”, “Put a Date on It” and “Pose” while also providing the street heads with tracks just for them like ” Big Homie”, “Untrapped” and “More Ready Than Ever” giving game to us without sounding like he scolding us.

Yo Gotti’s hustler mentality shows in not only his music and longevity but also his business sound. Not only does he own all his masters but he is one of the very few moguls that haven’t had any of their artists complain about their contract situation. Yo Gotti may be recognized on the same level as Jay-Z but he is in the same realm as him and slowly changing the landscape with all the free game he is giving us. You can stream “Untrapped” on all media platforms.
