Beyoncé to Release Visual Album ‘Black Is King’ On Disney+

Beyoncé has partnered with Disney+ to release a visual album titled “Black Is King.” The visual album marks the one year anniversary of the live-action version of The Lion King, where Beyoncé voiced the character of Nala. The visual album is directed, executive produced and written by the Queen Bey herself. According to the press release announcing the new project, the visual album explores “Beyoncé reimagin[ing] the lessons of “The Lion King” for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns…The voyages of Black families, throughout time, are honored in a tale about a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity…The film highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence. ”Music from the film is based on “The Lion King: The Gift.” The visual album is set to premiere on July 31st on the streaming service.
