Courtnie Gives Us Hair Salon Nostalgia In “What’s Up” Video

R&B singer Courtnie gives 90s hair salon vibes with a creative visual for her latest single “What’s Up.” The video pays homage to black hair. From bantu knots, locs, a fro to high ponytails, updos, and short cuts, the video showcases the versatility of black women’s hair through many different hairstyles. The inventive music video also shows love to black men featuring men with locs, fades, and beards.

On the relatable, chill, upbeat track, Courtnie sings of how it feels for her return to the scene after taking some time to herself. The lyrics also are reminiscent of the feeling of when summer comes. Since she is back, anyone who sees her should “say what’s up.”

The feel-good summer single can be streamed on popular streaming services, like Apple Music and Spotify, and the innovative visual can be watched above and on YouTube.
