Digging Thru Roddy Ricch’s Digital Crates This Sample Sunday

Roddy Ricch has quickly gained traction on music charts not only nationally but worldwide. For this week’s Sample Sunday, we will highlight his love for the classics shown through some of the samples used in his most popular tracks.

“The Box” is Ricch’s most popular track to date — the track that has turned “Roddy Ricch” into a household name. This song samples “DawnSynphony” by Roland. The sample used in “The Box” can be heard at the beginning of the song and was previously sampled in “Love Sex Magic” by Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake.

Another well-known song featuring Ricch’s vocals is “Ballin’” by DJ Mustard. The song “Get It Together” by 702 is sampled in this track as a prelude of sorts. “Get It Together” has been sampled in several other artists’ music, such as Summer Walker’s “Body” and Lyrica Anderson’s “Freakin’” featuring Wiz Khalifa.

The sampling of classics doesn’t stop there however. Ricch samples “Put That Woman First” by Jaheim in one of his earlier works “Ricch Forever”. The sample is subtler in this song, used mainly to set the tone for the track.

Ricch also samples “Guitars Unlimited – Nevaeh 2” by MINOR2GO in his track “Every Season”, giving the track an almost-nostalgic vibe to compliment the lyrics. The guitar sample was also used in Lil Tecca’s “Rags to Riches”.

Roddy Ricch continues to climb charts worldwide, sampling the classics in several of his tracks and paving the way for future rappers and lyricists.
