Los Angeles’ very own DJ Bugsy teams up with another Los Angeles native, Roddy Ricch on their new collaboration, “Ricch Forever”. Produced by Swish, the track is a tribute to their passing friend, JNew. The song samples William Bell’s “I Forgot to be Your Lover”, originally a soul ballad co-written with Booker T. Jones and it makes the song all the more meaningful as Bell highlights how regretful he is not being a good lover. Both Roddy Rich and DJ Bugsy highlight the part of life that is most difficult as far as baring witness to a close friend’s passing. A line in the chorus says, “The day he lost his soul wish I could take it back” almost regretful of the fact they couldn’t be there to protect him. Both artists tap into the hurt and put the emotions in the music as they pay homage to the fact that not only did JNew play a crucial role in their lives as a companion, but they attribute their skills and hustling tactics to him as well.
