Static Major’s Legacy Continues To Live On

Garette wrote songs for Genuine, Destiny’s Child and Drake, and is forever alive in the hearts of those he uplifted. Since his untimely death in 2008, Static Major has left behind exceptional works of art and a hauntingly unfinished solo album.

He was recently honored with the 2020 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Award for his track “Shot Clock”.The Awards are presented by ASCAP – the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, based in New York. ASCAP is a non-profit committed to protecting the rights of its members’ musical copyright.

The award pays tribute to his contribution to the music industry and culture – most notably in the Hip Hop and R&B genre.

Even years after his passing; his music and fame has survived the test of time. It has left an imprint in the soul of his listeners and loved ones. Seen below is the sweet and romantic note his wife, Avonti Garette, posted after receiving the award in his honor.
