Trae Tha Truth Partners with Community Organizations to Help Release a Man From Prison

Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth, along with his Angel By Nature/Relief Gang team, lawyers MiAngel Cody of The Decarceration Collective and Brittany Barnett of the Buried Alive Project, worked with the justice department to help release Kevin Fenner Sr. from federal prison. Fenner was serving a life sentence for possession of a small portion of crack cocaine due to the three-strikes law. On an emotional call where Truth tells him that he will be released from prison, Fenner is emotional and heard sobbing and at the end of the call saying “I can breathe man. I can finally breathe man.” In the wake of the more attention being paid to the social injustices experienced by the blacks, for organizations like these have their efforts shared publicly is a step towards further progression.
